Hospital Clowning


As Dr. Sneakers, Liz Bolick is one of the renowned Doctors of Delight. Working for over 30 years as a member of The Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit®, Healthy Humor Inc., Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Calvary Hospital Bereavement Camp and Circus Sense. She has Created moments of joy, wonder and laughter in prestigious hospitals such as Yale New Haven Health Children’s Hospital, Sloan Kettering, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York Hospital, Harlem Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein Hospital and Nickolas Children’s Hospital in Miami.

As a “humorologist” Dr. Sneakers Liz received the prestigious Raul Wallenberg Humanitarian Award for her work with critically ill children. She brings comic relief and encourages play while doing Clown Rounds for hospitalized children, their families, caregivers and boosting the morale of the staff incredibly. With circus arts, puppetry, physical comedy and magic she focuses on the well part of the child, not the illness. Her specialty training alleviates stress and transforms the lives of pediatric patients and the isolating environment of the hospital itself. Working in close association with Child Life specialists and hospital staff not only to relieve children’s sadness, anxiety but even pain, by diverting attention during medical procedures.

Dr. Sneakers will bring shimmers of joy by visiting room-to-room with private visits, strolling through clinics or performing stage shows or circus workshops in pediatric playrooms. She also has vast experience working with psychiatric patients and special needs children
